Hazel Walking Stick with Red Ochre | WS-001

A stylish walking stick featuring hand foraged red ochre and a custom brass ferrule.

This hazel walking stick with red ochre is a stylish, handmade walking stick featuring red ochre fills where there were small cracks in the top. The fills have been set with CA glue and sanded to 1000 grit, oiled then burnished to a soft sheen. The hazel was sourced from 100 Acer Conservation Project in Wotton-under-Edge. The shank is sanded smooth yet still retains the character of the reddish brown and bronze hazel bark and is fitted with a custom brass ferrule and tungsten steel hiking tip. The hiking tip can be removed and the ferrule covered by a rubber boot for use on hard and man-made terrain. This a gorgeous stick and is totally unique - once it is gone, it is gone. - Size: approx 91cm tall, 24mm at the top and 17mm at the base - Wood: Cotswolds hazel, with bark left intact - Top: A gentle dome with red ochre filled cracks - Shank: has a slight natural curve - Ferrule: custom brass with tungsten steel hiking tip and a rubber boot - Finish: Several coats of 100% natural Danish oil and beeswax.
