Cornish Driftwood and Turquoise & Sugilite Drop Earrings

Handmade wooden drop earrings, cut from driftwood gathered on a Cornish beach and inlaid with crushed turquoise and purple sugilite. A section of the stick has been split in half and the stone inlay runs the full length of each piece. The blues of the turquoise catches the light from across a room and the flecks of sugilite add a pop of purple up close. The turquoise is a mix of Cornish and Tibetan — two very different blues (caused by levels of iron oxide in the rock where they were found) packed into the same channel. The sugilite provides deep purple accents. The driftwood has been sanded lightly and oiled and keeps the weathering that years of time in the sea gave it. The grain is light and open and allows the colours of the stones to pop. Light enough to forget you're wearing them (1.6g for the pair). The silver-tone hooks are attached with handmade copper jump rings. Copper or Sterling silver hooks are available as upgrades.
